Someone just made the easiest money ever… from a horrible-looking penny!
Yes, you read that right — a coin worth just 1 cent in your pocket could actually sell for $16 if it has the right error.
And here’s the crazy part: this isn’t rare in the way you might think. You could have one right now without even knowing.
🔍 Step 1: Look for the Year 2000 Penny
Go through your change, coin jar, or piggy bank and search for pennies from the year 2000.
🔄 Step 2: Flip It Over
Once you find one, turn it over to the back side (reverse).
👀 Step 3: Check “AMERICA” Carefully
Focus on the word AMERICA on the reverse of the coin.
- Normal Penny → The letters A and M are touching (no space). This is worth just 1¢.
- Error Penny → There is a clear space between the A and M. This is called the Wide AM error, and that’s where the money is!
đź’µ Step 4: Know the Value
The one shown in the example recently sold for $16.
It might not make you rich, but turning a penny into $16 is still a 1,500% profit — not bad for checking your change.
📦 Step 5: Sell or Keep
- If you want quick cash, list it on eBay or take it to a coin dealer.
- If you want more, consider grading it through PCGS or NGC to get a higher sale price for better-condition coins.
💡 Tip: Always check your change — you might be spending money that could make you money.
